On Monday, WITN News reported that Jennifer Wilson, of Kinston, N.C., was arrested for allegedly dragging a puppy behind her SUV.
The 26-year-old woman was arrested on a charge of felony cruelty to animals after she was spotted Saturday morning, dragging a three-month-old pit bull puppy who was tethered to her bumper.
According to the New Bern Sun Journal, Wilson was also cited for driving while intoxicated.
The puppy, who was injured and bloodied from the ordeal, was taken to the Lenoir County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals for treatment.
A volunteer for the shelter stated:
“The puppy was banged up and was skinned up on its legs, but it wasn’t as bad as I thought,”
“The puppy is eating now and it seems happy.”
Wilson was arrested and taken to the Lenoir County Jail where she was held on a $15,000 bond.
