Update 12/4/13: The reward for information leading to Andra Grace's abuser has been increased to $2,000
A 12-month-old puppy, who was dragged behind a truck, is recovering from massive injuries in Greenville, S.C., and her rescuers are hoping to locate the person responsible for the cruel act, reported Monday's WISTV News.
The devastating incident took place on Nov. 29 in the Marietta area near Wildwood Road and Geer Highway; according to witnesses, the pit bull mix pup, dubbed "Andra Grace," by her rescuers, was tethered to an older, white Ford "farm" truck.
Animal control officers were called to the scene after the rope broke and the seriously wounded pup was left behind.
Today, the rescue agency, Special Needs Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation (SNARR), has taken responsibility for Andra Grace and they are offering a reward for information leading to the person who is responsible for the cruel act.
After being pulled behind the truck, Andra Grace suffered a multitude of horrific injuries, including de-gloved back paws, toenails ripped out, front paw pads torn and knees which have been skinned and mangled.
The severely injured dog remains under round-the-clock veterinary care.
Individuals who have learned about this heinous crime are reaching out to help with her veterinary expenses - click here to access the fundraising site.
A special Facebook page has been created for Andra Grace - already nearly 25,000 people have followed her story.
A $1,000 reward has been offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Andra Grace's abuser. Anyone with information is asked to email [email protected]
