Nose Work Classes (Aiea and Honolulu)

Nose Work Classes

Country Canine will be offering a new series of Nose Work classes beginning April 2013!

This class is all about fun and letting the dogs do what they do best - use their noses to sniff out their favorite reward, whether it's food or a toy. In the class you will learn what motivates your dog, how to set up the environment for successful searching, and how to read your dog's body language during the hunt. Because the techniques are based on detection dog training, you can eventually have your dog search for a target odor, such as an essential oil, or even your car keys or cellphone.

Any dog can do nose work, from puppies to senior dogs, low energy to high energy, Chihuahuas to Rottweilers. Shy and reactive dogs can gain confidence and overcome their environmental sensitivities through nose work. No obedience or training experience is necessary. We work with one dog at a time so dog-reactive dogs are welcome too.

Requirements for Fun Nose Work class: Dogs of all ages (over 5 months), training levels and temperaments are welcome since we work with one dog at a time. Dogs would be ideally be comfortable being crated however if your dog has an aversion to crating, please ask me about alternatives. Participants must provide own crates.
