Meet bird experts at Atlanta's Exotic Bird Fair

This macaw may have another 50 years to live, so you may have to put him in the will.

Atlanta's Exotic Bird Fair returns this weekend to the North Atlanta Trade Center in Norcross from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 11 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 12, 2013.

If you’re considering buying a pet bird, you can learn firsthand from the breeders. Ask about the temperaments and requirements of specific breeds. Some parrots, for example, may live 70 years, so it’s important to understand that before you decide to buy a pet that will outlive you.

If you already have a bird, you’ll find everything you need for bird care under one roof: feed, nutritional supplements, medicines, carriers, nesting boxes and supplies and toys — all at wholesale prices. Cages are a show specialty. Atlanta's Exotic Bird Fair boasts the “best prices and variety in the Southeast.”

All birds from out of state have been inspected by an avian veterinarian to ensure their health.

Admission is $5 for adults and children 13+, and children 12 and under are free. You can download a $1 coupon at http://northatlantatradecenter.com/bird.html. Tickets are good all weekend. Parking is free.

The North Atlanta Trade Center is located at 1700 Jeurgens Court, Norcross. For more information and directions, call 770-279-9899.

The next bird fair is scheduled for Sept. 28-29.
