Humane Society of Missouri removes 36 dogs from unlicensed puppy mill
Yorkshire terriers and Maltese adult dogs and puppies will be available for adoption.

Ozark, Missouri - An owner of an unlicensed puppy mill voluntarily surrendered 36 Yorkshire terriers and Maltese dogs yesterday afternoon. Today the 32 adult dogs and 4 puppies are expected to arrive at the Humane Society of Missouri Headquarters, Macklin Ave, in St. Louis for veterinarian examinations and treatment.

Acting on a tip from the local animal control and the Missouri Department of Agriculture, the Humane Society of Missouri Animal Cruelty Task Force found the dogs living in the basement of a house in crates piled atop of each other. The animals' coats were matted with feces and urine as were the cages the animals were housed.

The only water and food available were contaminated with feces. Most of the dogs were very thin.

After the dogs and puppies have recovered, they will be available for adoption. Anyone interested in adopting one of these dogs should click here.

If you would like to donate to help these dogs in their recovery, please call 314-915-1542.
