Pet oxygen kit

Did you know that most fire departments aren't allowed to use tax payer dollars for any equipment used to save animal lives? While there are no official statistics, it is estimated that as many as 500,000 pets are injured or killed by house fires and most fire departments are not equipped to provide emergency services to those animals. Luckily, there's a way you can help!

Wag'N Enterprises is a company that specializes in pet safety and they make a pet oxygen kit just for fire departments. Smoke inhalation is a major cause of injury to animals and people in a fire, and having oxygen masks small enough to fit a pet can mean the difference between life or death. The kits cost a measly $70 and include multiple oxygen masks, directions for responders and a training dvd.

Curious as to whether your local department has this equipment? Check out Wag'N's map in your area. If you find that your area has unequipped departments, consider purchasing a kit for them, or holding a fundraiser to raise money to purchase one. It's a mall price to pay to know that there's hope for animals in your area who may one day be affected by fire.
