The Wheaton Memorial Day Parade begins at 10 a.m. today, Monday, May 30th. It will process from Memorial Park in Downtown Wheaton and end at the Wheaton Cemetery on Warrenville Road, just south of Roosevelt Road. This parade will last for approximately two-and-a-half hours in which time the vets at Wheaton Cemetery will be honored with music. Flags will be proudly displayed on the graves of those veterans that dedicated their lives for the freedom and safety of our country.
Unfortunately Wheaton Cemetery does not have an area set aside for pet veterans. So, do not forget, if you know of a pet veteran that served in any one of our wars, to decorate their grave with a flag (and if so inclined flowers) just to show them that you appreciate their love for their country and the efforts they put forth to give us the freedom that we enjoy every day.
Happy Memorial Day to all vets and vet pets out there in Wheaton and everywhere today!
