Update 7/4/14: Leila was put down. Rest in peace.
A gorgeous German shepherd, with intelligent, imploring eyes, is in danger at the Los Angeles County Animal Care and Control facility where she has been housed since June 20 - the day that she was surrendered by her owner.
The 11-year-old shepherd, named "Leila," became immediately available for adoption since she did not arrive as a stray, but in the days since her arrival, no one has committed to make her a part of their family. On Tuesday, the volunteer who visits this facility to take photos of the dogs who need a home, wrote:
Leila is in danger!! She's a great dog -- knows a few commands. Look at that face - so eager to make you happy!!
What Leila's past entailed is a mystery...she may have been an avid tennis ball chaser, or a devoted fan of the water. Today, she may be a senior, but undoubtedly, she still enjoys the kind touch of a gentle hand and the company of a loving guardian.
Please take a moment to network this lovely dog's information - the networking help of strangers may be the difference between Leila's life, or her death. This facility, like so many others in the nation, will be filled to capacity as the fourth of July holiday approaches.
