A 51-year-old man in Immokalee, Fla., was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly beating a puppy and killing a chicken, reported Thursday's News-Press.
Orlando Ocesionieves was arrested at his Plum Street residence after a witness notified the authorities that the man was hitting a small, black and white puppy with a stick, and then beating the same puppy against the side of the trailer home.
The witness stated that she tried to help the puppy, who had attempted to run away, but Ocesionieves chased after the pup and continued the alleged abuse.
A Collier County deputy, who responded to the residence, noted in a report that the:
"puppy was wet, its left eye was red and it was shaking uncontrollably."
The deputy also found evidence of one chicken who had been killed, along with a freshly dug hole.
Ocesionieves was arrested and taken to the Immokalee Jail Center.
Officials removed three dogs from the residence and transported them to Collier County Domestic Animal Services.
According to WINK News, an animal services official stated that the puppy did not suffer any broken bones, but she is malnourished. She will be placed up for adoption after she recuperates.
