Ferret-filled pet rescue fundraiser to be held this Saturday at Hammerle Park

The Oregon Ferret Shelter will be holding its biggest annual fundraiser, called "Weasels Dancing in the Park," this coming weekend. The event will be at Hammerle Park in West Linn, Oregon, on Saturday, August 11th, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This fundraiser will help the shelter raise money to give food, bedding, and medical care to their more than 200 resident ferrets.

The Tube Race is just one of the games ferrets will play at the fundraiser. Ferret owners can compete to win prizes while helping shelter ferrets.

Here is the timeline:
· 11:00 a.m.: Registration
· 12:00: Lunch
· 1:00: Ferret Games
· 3:00: Live Auction

At Weasels Dancing in the Park, there will be a live auction with a variety of items for the ferret fan and non-ferret fan alike to bid on. There will also be pet items for sale, such as pet bedding, toys, and treats.

This year, the suction will have a cast photo from the TV show Grimm, signed by all members of the cast. This photograph comes with authentication, so you know it’s not a fake. The cast members of Grimm are big fans of the Oregon Ferret Shelter. No, they most likely will not be there, although they have been invited and have a Weasels Dancing in the Park flyer in their trailers (according to Stephanie Whiteside, OFS volunteer and shelter liaison to the cast of Grimm).

All proceeds from the auction and the sales will go towards the care and keeping of the shelter’s residents.

And the best part of the day: games for the ferrets! Ferret owners will cheer their pets on in contests of speed, strength, and just plain adorability in events such as the Tube Race, the Pop Can Tip, and Shortest or Longest Tail. All animals involved will get a special participation ribbon, and small trophies will be given to the first three winners in each category.

Lunch will be available for purchase between 12:00 and 1:00. You can choose hot dogs, hamburgers, or a vegetarian option. These come with chips and a can of soda. There will also be carnival games for people to try their luck and win prizes.

So come by Hammerle Park in West Linn on Saturday, August 11th, between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Watch some ferrets dance and get their fun on for a good cause! Hammerle Park is located at 1505 Lewis St., West Linn, Oregon. Don’t forget to bring your weasel!
