Long-running Tim Vogle’s Exotic Bird Fair returns November 2nd and 3rd, 2013, at the State Farmers Market in Forest Park, Ga. Saturday hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Sunday hours are 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Admission is free. Show operator Delorce Bennett, “the bird lady,” makes “education” the purpose of the event. A veteran bird breeder, she just wants to be a bird evangelist who helps people who love birds find the resources they need. The show gives them access to many breeders who can answer their questions about choosing and caring for feathered pets.
That’s the “department store model of expositions,” in which people are welcome to come and look, whether they buy anything or not.
But there is much for bird lovers to buy. Vendors from across the Southeast will offer cages, breeder boxes, feed and supplements, toys, plants and other bird supplies at wholesale prices. And of course there are birds: cockatiels, conures, eclectuses, canaries, finches, parrotlets, lovebirds and others directly from the breeder
As at previous shows, David Martinez, DVM, Southeastern Mobile Vet, will provide health certificates for birds from breeders located out of state. He’ll also offer wing and nail trimming, but appointments are required.
