Dallas judge calls sidewalk that culprit threw cat onto was a deadly weapon

Julian will serve at least five years in prison for felony animal cruelty before being eligible for parole.

Edwon Julian, the Dallas, Texas culprit who was found guilty of felony animal cruelty earlier this month in the death of his girlfriend's cat named Kisses, was sentenced on Thursday to ten years in prison.

According to the DallasNews.com, Julian, during a domestic dispute on July 31, 2012, grabbed Rosa Dismuke's cherished cat by the tail, swung the cat around, and then threw the defenseless animal off the second floor balcony. Kisses hit the drain pipe and then landed on the concrete pavement and died. An animal control officer tried to save Kisses as the cat whimpered in pain, but it was too late.

State District Judge Larry Mitchell enhanced the punishment for the animal cruelty charge stating the pavement was used as the deadly weapon. Mitchell must serve at least five years in prison before being considered for parole.

Rest in peace Kisses. Today some justice was served. Hopefully it will save another cat from such a heinous deed.
