Chicago's weekend pet scene: August 24-26
Join pets available for adoption at Dog Patch Pet and Feed. Mickey and Minnie are just two of the dogs (and cats) looking for homes through Annie's Little Angels.

Here’s a look at some of the events on tap this weekend to help the animals around the Chicago area.

Friday, August 24

Meet your new best friend and find out about Lakeshore PAWS at the Southpoint Cruise-In Night at Lakeshore Harley-Davidson at 1151 Morthland Drive in Valparaiso, Indiana. The adoptable pet will be there from 5:30 to 8 p.m. and the hot rods and bikes for the local cruise-in from 6 to 9 p.m. Food, music, beer garden and more.

Saturday, August 25

Join Annie’s Little Angels Small Dog and Cat Rescue for an adoption event at Dog Patch Pet and Feed in Naperville. Check out the pets looking for homes from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. and 10 percent of the sales that day will benefit the rescue.

The Magnificent Mile is going to the dogs this weekend with its annual shopping festival this weekend. Argent Restaurant will be hosting a Raw Bar Doggie Brunch from 10:30 a.m. until 3 pm. With $5 Mimosas and a chef’s selection of dog treats and doggy bag. RSVP at 312-202-6050. From 1 until 4 p.m., stop by The Shops at the North Bridge at 520 North Michigan Avenue for a complimentary pet photo session thanks to Chicago Pet Photo and Video. The session is complimentary and the photos will be available for purchase. One lucky Facebook contest winner will also have their photo shoot conducted wearing a luxury signature Swarovski piece. Reach Out Rescue will hold its Bow Wow BBQ from noon until 5 p.m. at Bailiey’s Crossing Dog Park at 9910 Melvina Avenue in Oaklawn. Cost is $8 for adults, $3 for kids 3 to 10 years old and $20 for a family of four. Dog- and people-friendly dogs are welcome. Learn more online and you may also purchase tickets in advance online.

The Midwest Dachshund Rescue will hold for Bowling for Dachshunds at Plaza Lanes at 8108 Kennedy Avenue in Highland, Ind. From 5 to 8 p.m. $25 for shoes, bowling and food. Enjoy the fun, check out the vendors, help the rescue dogs.

Sunday, August 26

Join several Chicago rescue organizations for the Walk for the Animals in Lincoln Park at Lake Shore Drive West and Barry. Registration is at 9 and the walk starts at 10 a.m. The Anti-Cruelty Society, Tree House Humane Society, Pit Stop Rescue, Trader Todd's, 4Legs Pet Productions and Native Foods are just a few of the participating organizations.
