Tomorrow, Sunday, April 15, will be the second day of the HONYASC (Heart of NY Australian Shepherd Club) "Spring Has Sprung" shows. These shows are held at the SOTC facility in East Syracuse, right off Exit 35 of the Thruway.
There will be two Australian Shepherd only conformation shows offered - one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Junior showmanship will be offered with both conformation shows and does allow non Aussies. Two all breed rally trials will also be offered - again, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. All breeds plus mixed breeds are welcome to the rally trials, but dogs must have a "tracking number" with ASCA.
Conformation judges are breeder judge Linda Casella in the morning and all breed judge Marjorie Wikerd in the afternoon. Well known Aussie obedience competitor Jayne Lips will be the judge for both rally trials.
Day of entry fees are $20 with junior showmanship costing $5 unless the dog is entered in another class, in which case, juniors is free.
For anyone who fancies Australian Shepherds this is an excellent chance to view many Aussies in one place. When handlers and exhibitors are not prepping to go into the ring, they are very willing to discuss the breed, They can fill you in on the reality of living with an Aussie such as how much grooming is required, how much exercise does an Aussie need, etc.
