On April 13, 2013, Ahimsa House http://www.ahimsahouse.org will hold their 9th Annual Birthday Pawty fundraiser to provide foster care, veterinary services and boarding for pets whose owners need help providing for them as they escape from their abusers. The event will be held at historic Glenridge Hall in Sandy Springs, Ga., from 7:00 p.m. to 10 p.m. The mansion is featured in “The Vampire Diaries,” which is produced locally for the CW network.

Ahimsa House is a nonprofit organization that is the only group in Georgia helping pets and their owners reach safety together in all 159 counties. At one time, Ahimsa House didn’t see pets other than dogs and cats, but in recent years, they’ve needed to care for other animals as well. Their clients have needed help with a ferret, a tortoise and even some chickens that had been an income source for their owner.

The 9th Annual Birthday Pawty will feature heavy hors d’oeuvres; an open bar with beer, wine and soft drinks; a fabulous silent auction; a raffle and a short tour of Glenridge Hall. Among the auction items are stays at Chateau Elan and Stonehurst Place; tickets to Zoo Atlanta, a CNN Studio Tour, Atlanta Braves games, the Atlanta Botanical Gardens and the Center for Puppetry Arts; hand-crafted items by local artists; and certificates for services at restaurants, dog groomers, spas, fitness centers, pet sitters and much more.

Tickets to the event are $40 per person and $75 per couple. They are available online at http://www.ahimsahouse.org/birthday-pawty. They can be ordered by mail by sending a check payable to Ahimsa House to P.O. Box 8181, Atlanta, GA 31106. Please write on the check "Birthday Pawty," number of tickets and under whose name tickets should be held at the door.

Tickets will also be available at the event.

Guest parking is at Kaiser Permanente, 20 Glenlake Parkway NE, Atlanta, Ga. 30328. There will be complimentary shuttle buses to the estate. Call 404-323-2306 if lost.

Cocktail attire is suggested for the evening.
