A happy tail in Waterbury

A happy tail in Waterbury
A lost dog is returned home because of postings on Facebook.

If you are one of the many who share other people's posts for a cause on Facebook and have found yourself wondering if it does any good ~ it certainly can. Just ask Fenway.

Monday morning, a dog named Fenway got out of his yard. The Facebook "lost dog" posting and sharing began. Monday afternoon, Mary~Lynn shared the post on the Waterbury Animal Shelter's page. Monday night, this writer saw Mary~Lynn's post and shared it on her own pages.

Doubtless there were more than a few who thought about Fenway when the severe storm hit Waterbury Monday evening, but Fenway had been been taken in for the night by a kind stranger and was safe.

It isn't often that your phone rings and you see it is your veterinarian's office calling for no apparent reason. On Tuesday afternoon, it was a very excited and quick thinking friend, Debbie, who works for the veterinarian, calling to say that the lost dog she saw on this writer's Facebook page had just been brought in to be scanned for a microchip! Although there was no microchip, there was determination and tenacity.

A few more Facebook postings and several phone calls later, Fenway was on his way home with his family.

Don't you love a happy ending?
